Music Together Intergenerational

Our Music Together Intergenerational class at the Holland Home Raybrook campus serves as an outreach program with the goal to connect generations and highlight the role that music can play throughout all stages of life.  This class provides a unique opportunity for the assisted living residents and families in the community to interact with one another and enjoy making music together.

Weekly Intergenerational music classes and lessons are structured much like our mixed aged classes.  Both curriculum content and lesson activities are similar to those in our mixed aged classes.  However, we encourage the Raybrook residents to sit in a large, outer circle and to "be a Grandma or Grandpa" for the children, participating in the class activities in whatever way that they can.  We encourage the registered Music Together adults to help their children interact with the residents before, during, and after class.  It is not unusual to see adults and children "dancing" with a senior,  playing patty-cake with a senior, rolling a ball to a senior, or being quietly rocked to a senior.  Class ends predictably with lots of shared "high fives" (sung on V-I, of course), hugs and smiles.

Tuition for Music Together classes is $165 for the first child and $145 for the second child.  No charge for sibling babies 8 months and under.  A registration fee of $15 will be charged to all families who are new to our center.  Tuition is fully refundable up to the first day of classes.  Registration fees are non-refundable.
