Music Moves for Children has been serving the local Grand Rapids community since 2001.  In the fall of 2009 we celebrated the opening of our new location at 6143 28th Street. We offer both Piano and Music Together^® Classes at our new studio and an Intergenerational Music Together class at the DeVos Assisted Living Center of Raybrook Manor. 

Class Descriptions

Music Together 

Three 9-week semesters for mixed ages include singing, chanting, moving, playing, creating, and responding to musical patterns. Playful activities are informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences -- developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers, regardless of their own musical ability. Classes encourage the absorption and exploration of a rich, musical vocabulary for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Two CDs, Songbook and parent guide are included!

HAVE A NEW BABY?:  New Baby 

Piano Transitions 

Weekly 45-60 minute classes provide a strong musical foundation and beginning keyboard skills for preschoolers and kindergartners. Developmentally appropriate and playful activities help students build a musical vocabulary, sing in tune, move with the beat and develop beginning piano technique and keyboard skills. Students create at the keyboard and learn to play a new song each week. Class size limited to 4 students. Piano book with CD, performance opportunities and parent education is included.

Piano Lessons 

Weekly 40-minute lessons with optional additional shared time train musicians who can hear what they play and play what they hear. Lesson activities apply what research says about how children best learn music and encourage students to listen, think, move, sing and PLAY. Music and CDs, performance opportunities and parent education meetings included.
